Jining, celebrated as the birthplace of Confucius and Mencius, possesses a profound history and a splendid cultural heritage. It is a land rich in natural beauty and humanistic traditions. Strategically positioned along the Grand Canal, Jining links Suzhou and Hangzhou in the south with Beijing and Tianjin in the north，serving as an industrial and commercial hub.

Rooted in profound historical traditions and entrusted with the vital mission of talent cultivation, Jining Polytechnic has aligned its development closely with national and regional strategies. Established in 1979, the college was approved in October 2000 by the Shandong Provincial People's Government as one of China's first batch of higher vocational institutions. Currently, the college employs over 1,400 full-time and part-time faculty and staff, with over 85% of full-time teachers holding a master's or doctoral degree. The full-time student population exceeds 24,000. Through more than 40 years of perseverance and progress, the college has flourished under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. It adheres to the development orientation of being internationally minded, domestically top-tier, industry-rooted, and distinctive in character. Party-building efforts are harnessed as a high-quality development engine, with the goal of "building a first-class institution, achieving double high-level plan, and advancing to undergraduate education". Upholding the strategies of "quality-driven development, uniqueness-led progress, talent-strengthening, and culture-based education", the college leads the upgrading of regional vocational education. It has forged a distinctive development path characterized by industry-education integration, digital and intelligent empowerment, seamless campus-to-career transition, and culturally enriched education. The college has been recognized for its outstanding achievements in Party-building and educational reform. It has been approved as a National Model Party Branch for Higher Education, with three teaching faculty teams selected for the "Double Leaders" initiative under the "Strong Nation Action Plan", which focuses on enhancing the leadership of Party branch secretaries who are both political and academic leaders. In addition, five Youth League branches and student organizations have been honored as "National College Vitality League Branch" and "National Exemplary Team of College Students" by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League. Over the years, the college has received numerous prestigious honors, including being named a National Model Digital Campus for Vocational Institutions, a Pilot Institution for the Ministry of Education's Modern Apprenticeship Program, and a Collaborative Innovation Center recognized by the Ministry of Education. It has also been listed among the first batch of skill-oriented model colleges in Shandong Province, as well as among the high-quality higher vocational institutions in the province. In 2024, the college was identified as a national model for modern governance in higher vocational education, and a star-rated institution in the Asia-Pacific Vocational Colleges Influence Index. In the "2025 Alumni Association China University Rankings", it was rated as a Five-Star Institution and a First-Class Higher Vocational College in China. Further affirming its excellence, the college has been awarded the titles of "National Civilized Campus".

Industry-Education Integration, Quality Enhancement and Excellence

To align with the development demands of new quality productive forces, the college provides targeted support for the construction of Shandong's Pilot Zone for Green, Low-Carbon, and High-Quality Development, with a particular focus on the "232" industrial cluster of Jining City. It has advanced in-depth collaborations with local governments, enterprises, peer institutions, and international partners. Joint initiatives include the establishment of the Energy Storage Technology Research Institute with the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Talent Center and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd.; the co-founding of the Beidou Applications and Low-Altitude Economy Industry College with Norinco Beidou Satcom; the creation of the mixed-ownership Jining Vocational–Huapu Industry College and the New Materials Research Institute in partnership with Shandong Huapu Detecting Co., Ltd.; and the launch of the Tencent Cloud Digital Technology Industry College with Jining Land Development Group, pioneering a new talent development model of "campus within park, park within campus". The college has taken the lead in building three provincial-level city-based industry-education consortia and three provincial-level industry integration communities. In collaboration with leading provincial and municipal enterprises, it has co-established ten industry colleges and seventeen school-enterprise cooperative majors, and built productive training bases in 427 enterprises. Through partnerships with Far Eastern State Transport University (Russia), Linyi University, and other domestic and international institutions, the college conducts integrated training across associate, bachelor's, and master's levels. To date, the college has developed 114 national-level and high-level programs, including key disciplines, pilot projects under the national modern apprenticeship system, and high-quality professional clusters. In the past two years, it has won 17 major teaching awards, including the First and Second Prizes of the National Teaching Achievement Award and Provincial Special Prizes. It has been listed among the Top 100 National Vocational Colleges in Industry-Education Integration, the Top 60 in Resource Development, and selected by the Ministry of Education as a model case of industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation. The college has developed 94 national and provincial-level high-quality online and shared courses, and compiled 12 national and provincial-level exemplary textbooks. It has also established 46 national and provincial-level teaching teams, master studios, and innovation platforms, and secured over 500 national and provincial research projects. In the past two years, it has recruited 79 doctoral holders and high-level technical talents, and been approved as a Postdoctoral Innovation Practice Base of Shandong Province. The faculty includes six second-level professors, with seven teachers awarded national honors such as National Model Worker, May 1st Labor Medal, and Provincial Teaching Master. In total, 31 faculty members have been recognized with national and provincial-level talent titles. The college has also been approved to establish the "Kylin Workshop" Training Base by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Shandong Provincial Engineering Research Center, and the Shandong Intelligent Manufacturing and Digital Economy Talent Training Base. Its students have won the Gold Medal in the Finals of the World Vocational College Skills Competition and First Prize in the National Vocational College Teaching Ability Competition.

Combining Virtue and Skills, Nurturing through Culture

Guided by the core socialist values, the college is committed to cultivating students who "achieve success in employment, fulfillment in life, and brilliance in personal development". It pioneered the nationally recognized "Three Integrations, Three Immersions, and Three Classrooms" cultural education system, advancing six synergistic approaches: curricular integration, activity-based education, digital transformation, industrial alignment, international cooperation, and alliance-driven development. The college has established sole national-level teaching resource repository themed Inheritance and Innovation of Confucian Culture and the Spirit of Luban Craftsmanship. Its cultural programs Elegant Rites of Confucianism: Poems and Etiquettes Through Millennia and the construction of a "one-stop" student community have been selected as key initiatives for the 2025 national project on quality enhancement and exemplary development of ideological and political work in colleges and universities. It has been approved by the Ministry of Education as a member of the "Culture + Internet" Empowered Ideological Community and has been accepted as an institutional member of the International Confucian Association. The college has developed a series of courses, including Heart Reading of The Analects, and has received honors such as the "Huang Danian-Style Teaching Team" of Shandong Province and the "Youth Innovation Team Plan" for higher education institutions. Signature cultural events such as "Blossoms of May" and "Resonance of Sacred Music: Harmony of Chinese Civilization" have been widely acclaimed. It has led the establishment of the "National Institute for the Study of Traditional Chinese Virtues in Vocational Education" and the "National Red Culture Education Community for Vocational Colleges". The college has been named Chair Member of the Ministry of Education's Cultural Literacy Teaching Advisory Committee, one of the first batch of National Cultural Quality Education Bases for Vocational Colleges, and a Provincial Base for Intangible Cultural Heritage Education and Inheritance. It has won the 2nd, 4th, and 6th editions of Shandong Provincial Government Cultural Innovation Prize.

Vocational Education Going Global, Setting Sail Internationally

To support international capacity cooperation, the college has developed five Sino-foreign cooperative programs, including logistics management and optometry technology, which have been recognized as part of Shandong Province's Model Sino-Foreign Educational Cooperation Initiative. In alignment with international standards, the college has developed 64 sets of standard equipment for overseas training resources, established 50 internationalized courses, and compiled 20 Sino-foreign co-authored textbooks. It has hosted international forums on the development of vocational education and led the establishment of the China (Shandong)–Laos Vocational Education Community, serving as its secretariat. Three "Six Arts Great Workshop" training centers have been established at institutions such as Pskov State University in Russia. The college has partnered with the Seychelles Polytechnic, Uganda Institute of Information and Communication Technology, National Institute of Transport of Tanzania, and Mzumbe Health Science College in Tanzania to co-establish four overseas branches. In collaboration with China Railway Construction Engineering Group East Africa Co., Ltd. and the National Institute of Transport of Tanzania, the "Ban Mo Institute" was jointly founded. The college has innovated a new international talent development model integrating "Chinese language + vocational skills + culture + employment". It has enrolled over 210 international students from 13 countries, including Laos, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and the Philippines. The college serves as the Vice Chair of both the China–Central and Eastern Europe Integration Alliance and the Sino-German Vocational Education Integration Alliance. Its exemplary case of vocational education "going global" has been showcased at international vocational education conferences.
